Abstract

Indirectly controlled telecommunications exchange where peripheral control devices (VA, LS, TS, E) cooperate with connection sets (VS, WS, T) in handling exchange-orientated commands. It is desirable to simplify the arrangement as far as possible to facilitate construction, operation and adaptation (e.g. enlargement). Subsidiary control units (V11 to V13, V2, V3) are arranged to carry out respective functions and are selected by the peripheral control devices for processing a command portion in dependence on signals received by the connection sets and passed to the peripheral control devices. The latter devices effect pre- processing of the connection set signals to obtain command-associated data which is stored in stores (S11 to S14, S2, S3) and can be accessed by the selected subsidiary control device which sends the result data from the processing of the command portion, via the data stores to the peripheral control devices for execution of the command. Allocators Y control the transmission of data on data buses y interconnecting solid control units, control devices and connection sets. <IMAGE>
