Abstract

A lubricant composition for forging and stamping of metals in which an active component comprising one or more complex organic substances is held in a stable aqueous system. The active component may be stabilised in the aqueous system by one or more co- solvents. Typical active components are derived from animal or vegetable products which may attain lubricant properties only at high temperature and which may be insoluble in water without the co-solvent.
