Abstract

An electronic timepiece is powered by a solid electrolyte battery 10 (Fig. 3), e.g. having RbAg4I5 - electrolyte, a silver anode and RbI3C - cathode. The battery 10 is connected to be charged by a battery of solar cells 11 and in addition by a thermo- electric or mechano-electric generator 11'. A display driving circuit 15 is supplied via a voltage booster 17, to drive a liquid crystal display 16. Alternatively the timepiece may include a motor driving hands. The solar battery, the charging circuit and the solid electrolyte battery may be moulded together in transparent resin or glass, as illustrated in Fig. 6. <IMAGE>
