Abstract
PURPOSE:To extremely minimize power consumption and to prolong the life of electronic watches, etc. by providing a switching element across the power source of the circuit driven by the stepped-down voltage and a cell voltage wherein the switching element is kept in off conditions after starting an oscillation circuit. CONSTITUTION:A series-parallel connection of capacitors 13, 14 is switched by the control signals phi1, phi2 from an oscillation circuit 6 or a frequency dividing circuit 7 and a step-down voltage from the voltage V ss1 of a lithium cell 15 is done. And the oscillation circuit 6 and the circuit 7 are driven by the voltage Vss2 stepped down to 1/2, for example, and a watch circuit 8 including a liquid crystal display unit is driven by the cell voltage Vss1. A switching element 16 such as N-MOS is provided across the stepped down power source Vss2 and the cell voltage Vss1 in such a circuit, and control is done by a flip-flop 17 etc. so that off conditions may be kept after starting the oscillation circuit 6. By doing this, power consumption will extremely be minimized and the life of the electronic watches etc. using lithium cells will be prolonged.
