Abstract

New 5-fluorouracil derivatives which give effective action against carinomatous diseases combined with an acceptably high compatability are 1- alkyloxyalkyl-5-fluorouracils substituted in the terminal alkyl radical and having the general formula <IMAGE> in which R represents hydrogen, an alkyl with 1 to 4 C atoms, an aralkyl with 7 to 8 C atoms or an aryl with 6 to 7 C atoms, alkylene represents an alkylene radical with 1 to 6 C atoms which can be interrupted by 1 to 2 O atoms, and X signifies halogen, mercapto, a thiosulphate group, an alkylthio or alkylsulphoxy group with in each case 1 to 4 C atoms or half of a disulphide group (-S-S-). Compounds wherein X is halogen, alkylthio or alkylsulphoxy are produced by reacting 1-halogen-alkyl ethers of the general formula <IMAGE> with 5-fluorouracil or a heavy metal or oxygen silylated derivative thereof. When X is mercapto or thiosulphate or half a disulphide group the compounds are produced by reacting a said halo-substituted derivative with a compound of silver or alkali metal with the appropriate sulphur containing group.
