Abstract

The suction and air throughflow of a vacuum cleaner 10 are regulated by a control system so as not to exceed predetermined values. The negative pressure p1 n suction channel 15 may be limited to one of two desired values by actuation of contacts p12 or p13, and the airflow may be limited by actuation of contacts p31, p32 causing reduction in motor output when the pressure drop across cover 18 attains a predetermined value. A manually-operable throttle 20 for regulating airflow may be provided in wand 19. The motor may be stopped if the air flow falls tea minimum value by actuation of contact P33, and started at low input by actuation of contact P11. <IMAGE>
