Abstract

The invention provides for the growth of plants (e.g. cucumber or coffee plants) to be influenced, i.e. accelerated, by the use of an alternating electric field passing through the space allowed for the roots of the plants. The devices used for this purpose may employ electrodes in such forms as wires, strips and grids. Thus electrode strips on opposite sides of the root space may be so connected as to be of opposite polarity, when in use. These electrodes may be replaced, however, by meandering wire arrays. Again, the stem or stalk of the plant may itself be made one electrode, the other electrode then being an annular metal sheet surrounding the root space. <IMAGE>
