Abstract

A liquid-containing construction comprises a flexible impervious sheet liner which is supported along at least one side of the construction by a substantially rigid wall which is erected or is intended to be erected on ground which is not reliably flat level. The wall comprises a number of upright rigid horizontally spaced stanchions (6) and, between each adjacent pair of stanchions (6), a substantially rectangular wall section (2) containing a number of vertically spaced substantially horizontal tie rods (10). The tie rods (10) are constrained in openings (5) through the wall section (2) but are free to move relatively thereto. Each tie rod (10) projects from both ends of the section (2) and is secured to and in tension between the two stanchions (6) to provide the essential fixing between the wall section (2) and the stanchion (6). The tie rods may be bolted to brackets 8 welded to the stanchions. <IMAGE>
