Abstract

A washing and milling or fulling machine comprises squeezing rollers 4, 11 and a fabric guide roller downstream of a fabric guide frame 2. A driven belt conveyor 16, acted on by a counter-weighted pressure roller 18 uniformly feeds the continuous and endless fabric web T made by a plurality of pieces of fabric sewn together towards and between the squeezing- rollers 11, 4. A member 21 senses the tension in the web T and increases the speed of one of electric motors 17, 10 driving, respectively, a drive roller 15 for the belts 16 and belts 7 which drive the roller 4 to decrease or increase the web tension as required. If the motor 10 stops suddenly, the fabric accumulates in a member 23 which pivots to operate a micro-switch to stop the machine. In a modification, the belts 16 are omitted and the belts 7 extend around rollers 15, 15'. In another embodiment, Figure 3, means are provided for shifting the upper squeezing-roller 11 in a parallel path from a first position vertically misaligned relative to the lower squeezing- roller 4, to a second position vertically aligned with respect to the lower squeezing roller 4, and vice-versa, so as to improve the operating speed of the machine and to impart a slight fulling to the web T during the washing treatment thereof when the said upper roller 11 is in said first position. <IMAGE>
