Abstract

A forging is made from porous metal pellets, by compacting the pellets to produce a porous pellet preform, heating the pellet preform, and hot- forging the pellet preform to an extent reducing its overall volume by at least 20%. The pellets may be of Fe, Cn Al or alloys of these and made conventionally by granulating with a binder.
