Abstract
Control apparatus for a spark erosion machine, which includes means for monitoring the conditions at the spark gap of the machine and means for controlling the mark- to-space ratio of pulses fed from a pulsed power supply to the gap in accordance with the monitored spark gap conditions, has means for reducing the mark-to-space ratio to a minimum (A, HOLD) whenever a tendency towards short circuit conditions is detected at the spark gap and thereafter, when said tendency has been removed, increasing the mark-to-space ratio in a sequence of successive steps (B), the maximum number of possible steps (C, E) for the next sequence of steps being reduced each time the mark-to- space ratio is reduced to the minimum (A, HOLD). <IMAGE>
