Abstract

In a method of covering an apertured drain pipe D, e.g. of PVC, an annular space R is continuously formed between the pipe D and a jacket M which is continuously folded around this pipe, the space R being pneumatically filled with filter material G, e.g. cellular polystyrene granules. The device comprises a guide 29 for the pipe, an unwinding device 17 for feeding tape to form the jacket, a unit 15 for transporting the pipe and tape, a guide 11 for folding the tape, and a feeder comprising a filling pipe 9 through which filter material is pneumatically fed into the jacket, and which provides guide surfaces for the pipe and jacket. The edges of the tape are welded together by welding device 13. <IMAGE>
