Abstract

830,457. Pipe wrapping. HEDLEY & CO. Ltd., T. March 21, 1958 [March 27, 1957], No. 10075/57. Class 99(2). A sheet of flexible material 1, formed by a flattened tube, is arranged beneath a pipe 3 and is wrapped around the pipe to form a double walled cover by moving a forming tool 4 from right to left through the tube. The tool 4 has a leading part 41, which is inserted into the end of the flattened tube 1, and a trailing part consisting of crossed over members 6, 7, which engage opposite edges of tube 1 and causes them to overlap, whereby the sheet 1 is wrapped about the pipe. Member 7 of the forming tool has a handle 5 having a cutting edge 9 by which the forming tool is moved leftwards whilst also slitting the adjacent edge of tube 1. The overlapped edges of the sheet 1 are secured together by a heat sealing means 8 which is connected to the handle 5. The sheet 1 is wound from a roll 2, which is connected to and moved by the handle 5.
