Abstract

The device comprises a manual or load-responsive step switch (10) associated with a motor switch arrangement (40) for supplying current to a reversible electric motor (30) by which an adjusting member (31) for the headlamp (32) is operated to change the pivotal position of the headlamp. Operation of the motor changes movable switch contacts (43,44) of the arrangement from one set of a number of fixed contacts (45 to 52) to an adjacent set of the fixed contacts. The step switch has a number of movable contacts (12 to 15) moved simultaneously by an operating member (11) and equal in number to the headlamp positions, making contact in each position with a predetermined set of a plurality of fixed contacts (16 to 22) connected to the supply, so that potentials are left on the movable switch contacts (43,44) of the switch arrangement either to leave the motor inoperative or to cause operation of the motor in one direction or the other until a null position is attained by a change in the headlamp position. <IMAGE>
