Abstract

A floating-caliper spot-type disc brake has the brake caliper (2) supported by, and displaceably guided with respect to, arms (3, 4) of a brake carrier (5). Support and guiding at each arm is provided by a rib and a cooperating groove, the groove (14, 16 or 15, 17) being provided on the brake caliper and the rib (18 or 19) provided on the brake carrier arm (3 or 4), or vice versa. To facilitate alignment of the rib and the groove upon positioning of the brake caliper (2) on the brake carrier arms (3, 4), the rib and groove are discontinuous, for example provided with central recesses, whereby part of a wall defining the groove can be passed through the corresponding recess in the rib, whereupon relative movement between the carrier (5) and the caliper (2) positions the rib in the groove. <IMAGE>
