Abstract

A flame thrower for burning fire breaks in grasslands or the like comprises a tube (10) having one end (12) adapted for connection to a hose from a gas supply, a burner nozzle at the other end, a control valve (16) intermediate the ends, a shroud (14) encircling the burner nozzle, and a pilot gas flame line (20), which is holed at (22) for primary air, extending between the tube (10) on the upstream side of a control valve (16) and the shroud (14) so that the flame thrower may intermittently be operated without repeatedly having to ignite the burner. <IMAGE>
