Abstract
An apparatus for controlling the distance setting of motor vehicle headlamps comprises a hydraulic sensing circuit (15-20) that responds to changes of position between the vehicle body and one or more road wheel axles, and hydraulic positioning means circuits (5-14) that actuate the displacement of the headlamps. The circuits are separate from each other and are interconnected through a piston-and- cylinder arrangement (11-16) where members (13-15) sealed from both circuits transmit movements between the circuits. Said arrangement has a housing comprising first and second parts (22, 23 and 27, 28) secured to the respective hydraulic circuits, one housing part containing the transmitting members (13-15) and the other part having a sealing diaphragm (29) for its associated circuit. The housing parts are releasably coupled together to provide a detachable interconnection through which the sensing and positioning means circuits can influence each other. <IMAGE>
