Abstract

A heat exchanger comprising a coil 6 within a housing 5, and an end plate 7 dividing an inlet portion 5A of the housing from a portion 5B thereof containing the coil, the end plate having first apertures 8 therein adjacent a turn of the coil at one end of the coil and second apertures 9, 10 arranged to allow water to pass inside and outside the coil, the first apertures being arranged on a circle of substantially the same diameter as said turn of the coil and the second being arranged efficiently to circulate hot water through the non-coil areas of the housing, the coil being surrounded by cylindrical baffles 11, 12. Several heat exchangers may be arranged in series. <IMAGE>
