Abstract

A brake shoe includes a support plate having a pair of web plates 23, supported at each end on a pin 18. One pin (shown) has a roller 41 which engages an actuating cam; the other pin (not shown) is a fixed anchor pin. The pins 18 both extend transversely between and are supportingly engaged with the pair of web plates 23. At least one of the pins has a pair of encircling annular grooves 33 axially spaced apart by a distance equal to the spacing between the web plates 23. The edges of the web plates 23 are positioned within the grooves 33 in supportive bearing engagement with the pin 13, and have an axial width approximately equal to the axial width of the grooves so that the web plates 23 are restrained from moving axially relative to the pin 13. <IMAGE>
