Abstract
A liquid storage system comprises a liquid storage vessel surrounded by a bund. A remotely located containment pit for receiving spilled or leaked liquid from a storage vessel is connected to the area within the bund by a canal. By sizing the remotely located containment pit to minimize the surface area, the amount of heat radiation from a fire can also be minimized and access to the fire by fire fighters is safer.
