Abstract
A switching network for selectively switching one out of a plurality of incoming transmission channels to one out of a plurality of outgoing transmission channels comprises a plurality of photogenerators 13 disposed on a panel 12, respectively associated with the incoming channels and activated by signals conveyed in said channels, and a plurality of photoreceivers disposed on a panel 22, respectively associated with the outgoing channels and generating signals in said channels. The photogenerators are scanned by a receive scanner 31 and the photoreceivers are scanned by a transmit scanner 33 connected to the receive scanning. Means 61 are provided for respectively addressing and directing the receive scanner to a photogenerator to be sensed and the transmit scanner to a photoreceiver to be activated. Some photogenerators are employed to transmit channel selection data to the addressing and directing means and once a particular photogenerator is linked with a chosen photoreceiver by this means, information is transmitted over the link. <IMAGE>
