Abstract

The coupler has a body member attached to the element, a hook-shaped member supported from the body member for engagement inside an open topped support member provided on the vertical scaffold member, a bracing member pivoted on the body member and having a first bracing surface for contact with the vertical scaffold member below the support member to prevent disengagement at the hook-shaped member from the vertical scaffold member, and a wedging member which acts between a bracing surface on the body member and a second bracing surface on the bracing member to hold the first bracing surface of the bracing member against the vertical scaffold member to prevent disengagement of the hook-shaped member from the vertical scaffold member. The coupler also includes a locking means which prevents pivoting of the bracing member when engaged with the vertical scaffold member to provide additional security against the disengagement of the hook-shaped member from the open topped support member.
