Abstract

A device is provided for marking a rotating pneumatic tyre with a spot of paint. To minimise relative movement between the paint applicator nozzle 32 and the tyre sidewall while they are in contact the applicator assembly 31 travels tangentially to the tyre in a V-shaped slot 34 so that as it moves with the tyre it also moves toward and away from the tyre, contacting the tyre as it changes direction at the bottom of the "V". A pair of slots is provided and the assembly is guided along the slots by wheels (38) [Fig. 2] retained by washers (39), 40. The assembly is driven by a pneumatic cylinder 26 via rod 29. <IMAGE>
