Abstract

An electrical transmission system suitable for an intercom or PA system and comprising a plurality of transmission paths each containing at least one amplifier 1, 11, has a facility for simultaneously removing an amplifier which has failed and substituting a standby amplifier 21. The change over is effected by switch-over devices 2, 3, 12, 13 associated with each of the amplifiers and an examining device 6, 16 associated with each of the amplifiers for determining the operability thereof. The examining device is connected with the switch-over devices for simultaneously controlling the switching out of the amplifier and the switching in of the standby amplifier. Interlock arrangements prevent an amplifier being switched on again after its replacement, and also prevent the standby amplifier being switched into a second path after it has already been coupled as a replacement into a first path. <IMAGE>
