Abstract
An alarm sensing network comprises a plurality of normally-closed switches (1) connected in series between first and second terminals (B1 and B2) of an alarm unit and a plurality of normally-open switches (2) connected in parallel between the first terminal (B1) and a third terminal (B3) of the alarm unit. In the event of an abnormal condition (i.e. one of the normally- closed switches opening or one of the normally-open switches closing) a warning is raised e.g. by sending a loud-speaker (HP). An abnormal condition is sensed by a current flowing through one of two bridges of series- connected resistors (R17, R18 and R19 or R37, R38 and R39). In each case a current flow through the bridge turns on a transistor (T7 or T9) connected to turn on a transistor T8 which supplies power to an alarm sounding circuit including the loud-speaker (HP). The second and third terminals are connected to the rest of the unit via diodes (D6 and D7); A plurality of alarm units may have their corresponding first, second and third terminals interconnected so that they share a common sensing network. The arrangement is such that, even without the diodes, there is little danger of a false alarm at one unit due to a low battery at another unit. <IMAGE>
