Abstract

An air heater comprises a combustion chamber 21 adapted to accommodate a burner nozzle and having at least one flue outlet, and a heat exchange chamber 22 connected with each flue outlet for the receipt of flue gases therefrom, the combustion chamber and heat exchanger being adapted to be located in an air passage 20 for the passage of air to be heated thereover wherein at least the combustion chamber has a section in the direction of air flow which narrows to an apex angle in and counter to the direction of air flow. The invention has the particular advantage that each heat exchange exchanger is generally wedge- shaped in both the upstream and downstream directions of air flow and thus has a linear ridge defining an apex angle which can be joined by means of a seam weld. This simplifies construction of such a heater very considerably. <IMAGE>
