Abstract

A vessel system for transport and handling of cargo offshore comprises a dockship 1 with means of propulsion 11, and one or more elevation legs 3a, 3b and at least one ship or barge for cargo transport. At an offloading/loading site the dockship is connected to the ship or barge with connection means 12 such that the dockship covers at least a section 4 of the ship/barge hull including the keel or bottom of said section. Once connected the dockship may be jacked-up on the elevation legs to stabilize the whole system for faster transfer of the cargo by means of a crane mounted on the dockship.
