Abstract
A test rig 1 including a physical specimen, a vehicle 3, comprising a physical specimen 2 of the subsystem (eg active suspension system) under test is provided. A model 15 comprising a sub-model 16 of the subsystem under test and a sub-model 18 of one or more further subsystems of the vehiÂcle is executed and first output 14 of the model related to the subsystem under test as first input 23 to the physical specimen of the subsystem under test and second output 19 of the model as second input 12 to the test rig 1 is provided. The test rig 1 is operated, the first input 23 applied to the physical specimen of the subsystem under test and the second input 12 applied to the test rig 1. A first response of the physical specimen 3 resulting from application of the first input 23 and of the second input 12 is detected and signals 21 representing the first response are provided as input to the sub-model 16 of the subsystem under test and to the sub-model 18 of the one or more further subsystems of the vehicle 3. The input is used to execute the sub-model 16 of the subsystem under test and the sub-model 18 of the one or more further subsystems of the vehicle 3. The invention, after processing of these signals, further provides a third output of the model related to the subsystem under test as third input to the physical specimen 2 and provides a fourth output of the model as a fourth input to the test rig.
