Abstract
Domestic utility monitoring apparatus comprising a plurality of sensors to measure consumption of one or more resources of energy, water and other utilities at a plurality of substantially different locations about a home. The sensors are adapted to communicate with each other forming a wireless sensor network 1 (WSN). A main-controller 6 receives measured consumption data from the WSN through one or more of a Zigbee (RTM) and a Bluetooth (RTM) receiver. The main-controller is further coupled to one or more wireless controllers 5 adapted to control an activation state of one or more devices in the home to alter the consumption of energy, water and other utilities. The main-controller may also be able to communicate received sensor data to a cloud based data centre for storage and later retrieval. There may be a wireless user interface 7-8 to allow a user to remotely communicate with the main controller to control at least one activation state of one or more devices. The wireless interface may comprise of at least one of a ZigBee (RTM), Bluetooth (RTM) or brain-wave interface and said interface may also be adapted to allow the user to control said devices through a web based solution.
