Abstract

The present invention relates to a layer arrangement 1 which changes the transmission of incident light depending on the temperature of the layer arrangement, where the layer arrangement has a first polarisation layer 3a, a temperature dependent liquid crystal switching layer 2 which influences the polarisation properties of light depending on the temperature, and a second polarisation layer 3b, as well as an additional NIR (short-wave infra-red) transmission-preventing layer 4. The layer arrangement may be provided on a glass substrate 5 such as a window in a building.
