Abstract
A frictional drive roller (AE) comprises a spindle (A), a cylindrical core (TK), and an outer layer (AS), having an at least partly yieldable surface into which frictional drive bodies (AK) are embedded so as to remain exposed. The bodies (AK) may be positioned upon a tacky surface of an under-layer (US) of resilient material prior to their being embedded in layer (AS), of which the surface (OI) may later be reduced by solvent attack or by grinding. Such a drive roller may serve for feeding laminar workpieces towards cutting tools used in boot and shoe production. Metal spraying may be used to enhance the frictional grip of exposed metal surfaces of bodies (AK). Methods and apparatus for moulding such rollers are disclosed. <IMAGE>
