Abstract

A vehicle has a step 15, for passenger access, which is displaceable by a ram 25 between a first, retracted, raised position and a second extended lowered position. The step has brackets 18, 21 which carry rollers 19 which engage tracks 20, 24 on the vehicle to control movement of the step between the positions so that, when the step is extended, the outer edge 16 is lowered before the inner edge 17, but the inner edge reaches its fully lowered position before the outer edge. Safety devices can be incorporated on the outer edge of the step and on its upper surface to inhibit movement which could hazard users or people near the vehicle. <IMAGE>
