Abstract

A strut channel frame and panel assembly for a closure member, for example a door, comprising a first and second frame both formed from struts 2 with channels in them. The channels are used for the attachment of various components, for example hinges 4, connecting sections, closing plates, astragals. In the case of a hinge, a fixing lug 5 is inserted into the channel on the frame strut and the hinge secured to the lug. The channels in the closure member struts can be used to secure a clip or cover to the edge profile so that the edges of the door leaf are flush. Alternatively a security closure astragal (12 Fig 4) can be fitted in the channel for preventing or restricting attack to the edge of the door via crowbars etc. There may be a series of slotted holes in the closure struts to allow the securing of strengthening members via a cleat and bolt connection. The positioning of the components allows the frame to be adjusted for different sized apertures. The door is preferably made from mild steel.
