Abstract

A luminaire comprises a support 1 for attachment to a rigid surface (e.g. a ceiling), a lamp holder 21, a lamp housing 3, and an intermediate coupling member (2), between the support (1) and the housing (3), which is connected to both the support and the housing by snap-fitting connections (9 to 19) so arranged that the connection to the support cannot be released without first removing the housing. The connection between the support and the coupling member comprises resilient hooked fingers (12, 13) on the support which engage a cross-beam (9) within a bush (8) in the coupling member. The connection between the support member and housing comprises lugs (16, 17) on the housing which extend into the bush so as to trap the hooked fingers and which engage with ribs (18, 19) in the bush. The lamp holder (21) may be mounted on the coupling member. <IMAGE>
