Abstract

The invention relates to the socket and the covering of the ballast of the novel 7 W - 9 W - 11 W miniaturised fluorescent lamps permitting adaptation of various equipment and creating the electrical contacts between lamp and ballast. The socket 2 receives the lamp 1 which the cap 4 renders tamper-proof. The covering of the ballast 3 is compatible and can be coupled with the socket 2; it may also be taken away. The grooves 6 permit, by the insertion of the profiled elements 5, the positioning of the socket onto the ballast, the installation of complementary equipment 7; reflectors, diffusers, shade. Various plates 8 can be used for fixing the covering of the ballast or of the socket to various supports. Other parts permit their integration into lighting fixtures. The present invention offers lighting-fixture manufacturers and users the possibility of using easily, for various usages and various functions, the miniaturised fluorescent lamps.

Description

The aim of the present invention is to give consumers and manufacturers of the luminaire the possibility of easily using the new miniaturized fluorescent lamp PL (mar
as deposited) / different dimensions and powers PL7 - PL9
PL11 - thanks to suitable supports making it possible to add ancillary equipment: reflectors, diffusers, lampshades, to integrate it into all types of luminaires.

 The new miniaturized fluorescent lamp requires a socket and a ballast for its operation.

Currently the current fluorescent tube is sold, supported by sockets fixed on a metal box integrating the ballast. It can be used as is or incorporated into a lighting fixture. The incandescent lamp socket facilitates the adaptation of various equipment, such as the lampshade.

For the new lamp, the socket and ballast elements are independent and heterogeneous. They can only be used by manufacturers of luminaires who necessarily incorporate them into lighting fixtures.

 According to the invention, the socket and ballast elements make it possible to constitute a homogeneous and aesthetic grouping, used as is or separately, the socket alone or the socket independent of the ballast.

 The socket provides electrical contact between the lamp and the ballast. Its dimensions allow to conceal the base of the lamp. A cover is clipped onto the top of the socket creating a lock for locking the lamp and ensuring its inviolability.

 In the grooves, on the edges of the bushing, small profiles of identical section are inserted. A profile interlocking system can be envisaged.

 The drilled and threaded profile allows the fitting of the socket on the casing of the ballast, it also allows the fixing of various parts: hanging support on a wall, adapter to lighting fixtures, adaptation of diffuser, reflector fixed or adjustable, lampshade.

 The ballast and the electrical connections are hoods by a covering in conformity with the socket and compatible by groove and profile with this one.

 According to a first variant, a currently marketed socket can be fitted with a cover comprising grooves for inserting profiles. The socket is previously fixed to a base, the cover clips onto the base and locks the lamp.

 The profile allows the attachment of various parts.

 According to a second variant, the socket providing the electrical contacts receives the lamp, a cover conceals the base of the lamp and forms a lock, a base completes the assembly, these 3 elements are compatible and include grooves for inserting the profile.

Figure 2 shows an exploded view of the assembly.

 The lamp base (1) snaps into the socket (2), a tamper-evident cover (4) of the lamp clips inside the socket locking the lamp.

 The sleeve (2) is positioned on the casing of the ballast (3) thanks to profiles (5), in the drawing of round section, which are inserted in grooves (6) of a section similar to that of the profile .

 The profiles (5) are drilled and tapped allowing the adaptation of complementary equipment (7) of various shapes or to couple together using a threaded rod.

 A plate (8) can be used for fixing the ballast, similar plates but of different dimensions are used for the sockets.

Figures 3, 4, 5 show plan and sections of the various components.

FIG. 6 represents the first alternative solution, the marketed socket (12) in which the lamp (1) is switched on is clipped onto the cover (14) which, itself, is clipped onto the base (19) in notches (20).

 The grooves (6) can receive the same parts as the basic solution.

Figure 7 shows the second alternative solution.

 The socket (2) comprising the electrical contacts (2) receives the cover (14) the lamp being engaged in the socket the base (19) can complete the assembly.

Figure 8 shows the principle of attachment of the ballast (3) on a horizontal part, floor or ceiling The ballast (3) is positioned by screwing on the threaded profiles (5), integral with the plate (8) previously fixed on the support: wall, ceiling or furniture.

Figure 9 shows the principle of attachment of the sleeve (2) on the horizontal part - same principle of fixing as for the ballast by special piece (9).

Figure 10 shows the principle of attachment of the sleeve (2) on the vertical part by special piece (10).

Figure 11 and Figure 12 show the section on the ballast (3) and socket (2) fixing system.

Figures 12 and 13 show the connecting plate (11), in plan and in section and Figure 14 in perspective view. The plate (11) allows the casing (2) to be covered with various materials and shapes.

Socket (2) for PL miniaturized fluorescent lamp (trademark) (1) associated or not with the covering of a ballast (3) characterized in that they include grooves (6) for inserting profiles (5 ) for positioning the socket or ballast and for adapting ancillary equipment.  2. Socket (2) according to claim 1 characterized by the establishment of a cover (4) partially covering the base of the lamp (1).  3. Socket 52) and ballast (3) according to claim 1 characterized by the insertion in the grooves (6) of profiles (5) drilled and tapped for 1 adaptation of various supports.  4. Socket (2) according to claim 1 characterized by the adaptation parts (5) allowing mobility and orientation of the reflectors.  5. Socket (2) and ballast (3) according to claims 1 and 3 characterized in that they can be positioned one on the other facilitating electrical contacts.  6. Socket (2) and ballast (3) according to claims 1. 2. 3. characterized in that they can be positioned separately or grouped on hanging pieces (8/9/10) for wall, floor, ceiling, furniture.  7. Socket (2) according to claim 1 characterized by a connecting plate (11) allowing integration or adaptation to luminaires and covering with various materials.  8. Socket (2) according to claim 1 characterized in that a cover (14) having grooves (6) covers the base of the lamp (1) and a socket sold (12).  9. Socket (2) and ballast (3) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that they can receive fixed or orientable reflectors, diffusers, lampshades, by the use of threaded profiles (5 ) fitting into the grooves (6).
