Abstract

Inductances. - Multi-layer inductance coils for wireless signalling and the like comprise coils with their plug- and-socket ccnnections embedded in insulating material within a mould to form with the mould a solid block impervious to moisture and with the windings 'fully protected. The connections b, c may be held in a strengthening block e, and the block e and coil a are arranged within a presspahn or other mould d of thickness permitting it to be readily shaped to the final shape of the coil, the cover of the mould having an aperture for the introduction of molten insulating compound, which may comprise 83 per cent of paraffin wax, 13 per cent of resin, and 4 per cent of ivory black. In order to increase the efficiency of the coils when used in coil-holders, the distance between the connections b, c and the axis h of the coil may be the same for coils of all sizes.
