Abstract

A pneumatic conveyor, for feeding plastics particles to the hopper of a moulding machine, comprises an inlet head (Figs. 1 to 9 not shown) connected by duct 50 to a separator, from which particles are discharged from outlet 53 and conveying gas emerges through separating means 51, shown as a filter. When the hopper is full, particles accumulate in outlet 53 and eventually block the separator to prevent further flow of gas and particles along duct 50. In Figs. 10 to 14 (not shown) the separator comprises a pair of filter discs in a demountable housing or a labyrinth through which gas exits upwards. The housing may have replaceable liners to protect the filter discs. <IMAGE>
