Abstract

A locking device for hinged doors (1) or windows is proposed in which a lock bolt (5) protrudes or retracts to engage or disengage a bolt receptacle in the door frame by turning a handle (3). The locking device avoids inadvertent closing of the door (1) with the lock bolt (5) protruding (as would cause damage to the lock bolt per se, door frame and the like) by virtue of locking the lock bolt (5) in its retracted position when the door (1) is not in the closed position effected by the linkage motion of a detector means (9) at the free end peripheral surface of the door in contact or not in contact with the door frame according to the position of the door (1) relative to the door frame. <IMAGE>
