Abstract

A decorative marbling effect is applied to glazed clayware articles by mixing liquid gold (a commercially- available decorating product) with water and pouring the mixture over the article while located above a bath of water so that any liquid gold not adhering to the article forms a surface layer on the bath. The article is then passed through the surface layer so that further droplets of liquid gold adhere thereto. Finally the article is dried and fired.
