Abstract

In order to provide a clothes washing machine with a high speed drive to the drum for spinning, the drum motor has wound in with its stator windings 3, 4, which are energised from the mains during the washing phase, a further winding 14, which may be part of the normal stator windings, and which is energisable during the spin phase by a mains powered static frequency converter 15. <IMAGE>
