Abstract

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a protective sheet, characterised in that a plastics film is fed through a laminating nip (7) in the form of a continuous tube (3) in a flat condition, a web (4) of absorption material being also fed through the nip (7) for attaching by means of an adhesive to one face of the tube, said tube (3) in its flattened condition having a width approximately corresponding to that of the web (4), that the material web (3, 4) obtained thereafter is continuously folded lengthwise to a C-shape, so that the absorption layer (4) is encased by the plastics tube (3) other than a narrow, centrally situated lengthwise opening (24), that the outermost layer of film in the C-shaped material web (3, 4) and constituting the film surface of the tube which has not been cemented to the absorption layer (4) is slit lengthwise at the centre of the material web, and that the material web (3, 4) is cut transversely into separate pieces of material (23). <IMAGE>
