Abstract

A method and device for the production of filter sleeves closed at both ends from a resilient (paper) tape (1) involves applying a continuous first adhesive stripe (5) alongside one of its longitudinal edges (2) and second adhesive stripes (7) extending at right angles to said first adhesive stripe and on being spaced apart by the desired sleeve length, said second adhesive stripes being applied only to the centre portion of the tape and at least over half the breadth of said tape. The tape is then formed into an endless tube by external curved guiding surfaces (8), the two longitudinal edges of said tape being pressed together between two press wheels (10, 11) and the tube subsequently being cut into closed sleeves at the stripes 7 by means of a pressing and cutting device. The stripes may be applied at different sides or at the same side of the tape. <IMAGE>
