Abstract

Apparatus for cleaning ingot moulds comprises one or more pipes 3 each carrying a spray head 4 from which nozzles extend at an angle to the axis, preferably 45 to 135 DEG , of the respective pipe. The nozzles produce jets, preferably flat, of liquid which overlap to ensure complete coverage of the wall of a mould placed thereover. Each nozzle preferably has a spraying angle of 40 DEG . The nozzles may be arranged on two parallel planes, the nozzles of one plane being offset by 30 DEG to the other. <IMAGE>
