Abstract

A microwave oven has a door 12 with a vapour seal 66, required to prevent egress of hot vapours when the oven is being cleaned by heating to a high temperature using resistive elements in the oven. In order to avoid substantial microwave energy absorption by this seal it is downstream of a choke seal 76 with a slotted wall 78 which prevents escape and peripheral circulation of microwave energy. A secondary microwave seal downstream of the vapour seal is provided by a second choke seal 88, again with a slotted wall 86 or by an absorption seal formed by a tubular resilient conductive mesh. <IMAGE>
