Abstract

The antenna unit comprises two separate functional sections; an internal antenna unit (6, 7, 8, 9) which determines the electrical characteristics and is thus made as a precision part, although not requiring a high physical strength, and a shielding casing which is matched to the shape of the internal unit, but does not require to be made to rigid tolerance requirements since it merely provides physical protection. The internal assembly and the casing are mounted on a common rigid base (5) and alignment provisions may be provided to compensate for movement when mounted on a tower. <IMAGE>
