Abstract

Gases, treating electrically.-In an ozone enerator, one electrode is constructed so as to provide an enlarged insulating space opposite the edge of the other electrode. The apparatus shown comprises two casing members A, B, Fig. 6, which form one electrode, and are bolted together at flanges along their vertical edges. One casing member A is formed with a recess 6, Fig. 4, accommodating the dieleetrics, which rest on shoulders 7 on either side of an air inlet 8 continuous with the recess. In the bottom of the recess and in the second casing member B there are endless grooves 10, situated opposite the edges of the inner electrode 12 and providing the increased insulation. The edges of the dielectrics are thus protected. The electrode 12 carries insulating buttons 13 to space it from the dielectrics, and is engaged on its vertical edges by triangular insulating pieces held by metal strips placed at the edges of the recess 6. A terminal 17 supporting the inner electrode 12 by means of a strip 16 issues through an insulator 19 traversing one of the casing members. A filter for the air consists of cotton &c. 36 supported by gauze within a detachable bottom 33 provided with air inlets 34. Ozone escapes through rows of holes 21 into grooves 22 communicating with passages 25, 26 in a coverplate, which is provided with two windows above the dielectrics.
