Abstract

The regenerator is of the type in which the PAL signal is fed both direct and via a one-line delay 12 to an adder 14 and a subtractor 16 whose outputs pass via full-wave rectifiers 36, 38 to control a sub- carrier oscillator 50, and is characterized by a second sub-carrier oscillator 40 which is controlled by the colour burst and which also controls the oscillator 50. To ensure that the regenerator synchronizes correctly on the colour burst and maintains approximately constant phase but also follows any rapid change in the phase of the chroma signal, oscillator 50 has a larger frequency change for a given control signal than does oscillator 40. The regenerator may be used in a colour decoder in which oscillator 50 feeds demodulators 20, 24 receiving the separated chroma components. <IMAGE>
