Abstract

A magnetic core plate for transformers or the like has a centre limb portion 2 between two outer limb portions 3 and yoke portions 4, 5 joined to the ends of the outer limb portions, the centre limb portion extending from one yoke portion 5 and intersecting the other yoke portion 4, and being separated by gaps therefrom. To reduce the field line density across these gaps and thereby reduce magnetic losses and the heat produced, the said other yoke portion 4, is made wider than the said one yoke portion 5. This wider yoke portion may be completely traversed by the centre limb portion and its cut edges 9, 10 may extend either symmetrically or asymmetrically with respect to the centre line 11 of the centre limb portion.
