Abstract
The line transformer, for a television receiver, has a frame-shaped core with 4 limbs of which a first carries the windings. The first limb's (15) cross-section is roughly that much larger than that of a second limb (16) opposite it as the ratio of the magnetic flux in these two limbs, i.e. roughly 20-25% larger. The core may be made from two U-shaped halves (11, 12) and have air gaps (13, 14) in the first and second limbs. The advantage lies in reducing the amount of material employed and therefore the transformer's weight.
