Abstract

A brake master cylinder reservoir 6 has a float chamber 20 bounded by two baffles 14, 16. Each baffle has an air bleed aperture 24 adjacent the filler neck and a passage 26, 28 for flow of liquid between the float chamber and the respective adjacent chamber, the passage 28 through the rear baffle 16 having a larger diameter than the passage through the front baffle 14 so that, when the reservoir is installed in a vehicle and the vehicle is braked, any surge of the liquid in the float chamber liable to provide a false indication of low level of liquid in the reservoir is compensated at least in part by flow of liquid into the float chamber through the larger-diameter passage. The larger diameter passage 28 is at a greater height from the bottom of the float chamber than the other passage. <IMAGE>
